what to eat: citi field

One of this past weekends highlights was the Mets-Phillies (aka: Philth) game on Friday night. Game wise - it was terrible. The Mets had their asses handed to them by the Phils, but on the bright side they swept the series. Guess I'm not as great a good luck charm as I'd like to think I am.

Win or lose, Citi Field is always a great time.

So, what should you eat? Everything. Okay, maybe not everything.

Yes, Citi has Shake Shack and Blue Smoke. Yes, both are amazing establishments; but I don't know about you, but when I go to a ballgame, I don't want to spend half of the game on line for some meat. Especially since there's a Shake Shack in my hood and Blue Smoke is a quick bus or subway ride away.

Personally, I look forward to three things at Citi Field: 1) a filet mignon steak sandwich with the works at Pat LaFrieda's, 2) garlic parmesan fries with every dipping sauce I can get my hands on from Box Frites; and 3) beer! Anything from the basic Bud Light to breweries across the states on tap, generally at the Big Apple Brew.

yes, please
As you can tell from beautiful shit show that is our Friday night dinner, I was in food heaven. Also, please note that all that food was for four people, not two. I gorged myself but nothing too crazy that can't be worked off. There are actually plenty of healthier food choices at Citi but I can promise you, this is the most delicious. When a Philly fan around my age looked at our steak sandwich and questioned if it was a philly cheesesteak, I had to clarify that it was a filet mignon steak sandwich that happened to have cheese on it - and it is infinitely better than any philly cheesesteak at Citizen's Bank Park. He gave the sandwich a second look and agreed. That's how good our food is - even Philthy fans agree!

I've been to my fair share of baseball stadiums and although I'm bias, I feel confident proclaiming that Citi Field really has this food game on lock.

& because I'm a Metsies (thanks, Keith Hernandez) and Venus Trapped in Mars fan:

summer starts on friday...

... And things are looking up. I received a job offer for a position I know I can kill; and I finally went to a Mets game! Okay, sports team wise things aren't going nearly as great, per say. The Mets lost.. against the Cubs (really?) and the playoffs are proving to be more stressful than I expected (just a little effort, Heat! Common!). The Mets-Cubs game was fun though. It was my family and the boyfriend in the Caesars Club. And Foreigner was performing after the show so they sang the national anthem pre-game and sounded amazing. Serious harmonies. So yea, finally saw a post-baseball game concert that was incredible - Foreigner!! So. Good. They sounded amazing & the energy was awesome. They played for about an hour and covered the classics - Jute Box Hero, I've Been Waiting for a Girl Like You, Cold as Ice, I Wanna Know What Love Is, Feels Like the First Time, Hot Blooded, Urgent, and Double Vision. what i'm looking forward to: summah edition

HUDSON, NY: Which means playing with the goose (Lucy, the American dingo/carolina dog), laying in the backyard, BBQ'ing, drinking local, HORSE battles on the basketball court, cheap movie nights, and not to mention stocking up at Hudson-Chatham winery. 249563_659436417325_6050630_n 210884_688261885855_748286734_o263479_671683259555_4066602_n271134_671682970135_617214_n BASEBALL: I've been so busy with grad school that I've only been to one baseball game this season (oh the horror!) and it was in Canada (oh the horror!) and not even the national league (make it stop!). It's time for Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones game for this girl. Oh & hopefully an after-game concert that is better than Third Eye Blind in DC (never forget) - high hopes for Foreigner. 259903_661088795945_502652_n IMG_1546IMG_3499 COLUMBIA COUNTY FAIR: Upstate's hottest county fair has it all - yuppies, white trash, confederate flags, fried kool-aid (didn't know it was possible), pig races, cattle competition, an epic beer tent, tractor pulls,  I can go on and on. It's been one of my favorite places for as long as I can remember. IMG_1722 IMG_1700 IMG_1669 IMG_1665 IMG_1663 IMG_1658 BEACH TIME: Got one pre-NKOTB, Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees concert beach sesh in. And it doesn't look great. There is one potential Jersey Shore (don't knock it till you try it) weekend in the future. But I may be relying on the amazingly quiet and peaceful nook of Central Park in my corner of the city to get my tan on. Damn you security door blocking me from the roof! 260184_659438558035_4777086_n
